Together with Jane and Innocent, the Joanne Foundation has started a small-scale shelter for four disabled children from Ndegeya. Three days a week the four children go to Apollo’s house from 09.00 till 15.00 o’clock.
Jane is in charge and together with Innocent she takes care of the activities for the children. Innocent sees to it that the children also get a nutritious hot meal. Charity and Diana are picked up by Jane at their house. Rehema, who had a bad start in life because of malnutrition and neglect, is also picked up by Jane. Yiga, a seventeen-year-old boy, who is raised by his grandmother has development and growth issues. Because of his special appearance he has been, and still is, bullied and abused a lot.
Normally these children are at home or wander through the village because they can’t go to school. They are very welcome at Joanne’s Children Corner (JCC) and Jane and Innocent give them attention and care by means of playful activities which will stimulate their development
