In August Elske te Kiefte and Emiel Tolkamp from Aalten and IJzerlo made a round trip through Uganda during their holiday. They also visited Apollo and together with him they visited a number of families and projects supported by the Joanne Foundation.

Elske:
“During our wonderful trip through Uganda Emiel and I saw the areas in which the Joanne Foundation commits itself. We met the very enthousiastic Apollo who gave us a tour. Unbelievable the amount of work Apollo does for his community, the tutoring, the library and a playground for MANY children.
We also visited some elderly people who were, at that moment, treated by Kakande, the nurse. During our tour we had already seen a lot of poverty but only when you actually talk with the people you really see how terrible the poverty is. It is awesome to see that Kakande, with the support of the Joanne Foundation, can offer the elderly people so much help. Help which in Holland is the most natural thing in the world.
Also the children are grateful to the Joanne Foundation for their support. This support gives them much better opportunities in society.
Children with disabilities are also supported by the Joanne Foundation. It is incredible to see how Owen has developed thanks to the help he received. Hopefully more children with disabilities can be helped.
We were honoured to have seen the good work done by the Joanne Foundation under the expert guidance of Apollo!
Regards, Emiel and Elske”.
Elske and Emiel gave some families a wonderful surprise: a big chicken! These families had a good meal for a few days.
